Teens

This is a transitional phase of life for our teens and it can be tough to navigate.  Not only are teens dealing with things their parents probably didn’t (like technology, social media “popularity”, and more), they also tend to be pre-occupied with self-identity, figuring out what is important to them as individuals and how that fits into their family’s dynamic, establishing values, and exploring the world around them.

Some of the more common issues for this group involve acceptance (of self and from peers), identity issues, sexual orientation, self-esteem, and how to build and maintain relationships.  When youth are struggling in one or more of these areas you may notice behaviors such as skipping school, withdrawal and/or isolation, self-harm, and even thoughts or talk of suicide.
